As we journey through Lent it may at times seem a long way to Easter, but we need to keep our eyes fixed on that goal because the purpose of the Lenten disciplines we undertake is to prepare us to rejoice with the risen Jesus at Easter. One traditional Anglican practice has been to read a worthwhile book to help us deepen our understanding of Scripture, faith, or the Church’s worship.

to give up what harms us,
and to seek the perfection we are promised
